Good news in today’s papers was hard to come by – so straight onto the doom and gloom!
The Telegraph and Guardian trail a speech today by David Cameron as he criticises what he sees as anti-business rhetoric over workfare and bankers bonuses. Given the tabloids and broadsheets were dominated by the latest bonus figures he may have a tough time changing the public mood.
The Metro and Daily Mail carry a story on ‘ghost patients’ as it transpires government money is being used who to pay GPs for patients who have moved or died.
Parliamentary gossip centred on MP Eric Joyce, who was arrested last night for alleged assault of another member of parliament in a bar at the House of Commons.
Meanwhile tributes continue to pour in for Sunday Times journalist Marie Colvin, who was tragically killed by government forces in Syria reporting on the continuing unrest. Whether it will make any difference to the impasse caused by Russian and Chinese stonewalling at the UN remains to be seen.
